GreenPeak bondholder claim
Holders of GreenPeak’s “5.5% Renewable Income Bonds” — sold across the EU as a low-risk, asset-backed green investment — who lost capital when the bonds defaulted, may be owed compensation.

GreenPeak bondholder claim
GreenPeak raised €480m from retail investors across the EU with a bond it called the “5.5% Renewable Income Bond” — marketed as capital-stable, asset-backed and low-risk, a green place to earn a steady income. The security behind it is alleged to have been largely unsecured, and the solar parks said to support the coupon carried construction and offtake risk the prospectus did not fairly disclose.
The portfolio underperformed, two flagship parks never reached grid connection, and from September 2024 the coupon went unpaid and the bonds fell into default. Investors who were told this was a safe income lost capital.

What was marketed, and what was true
The prospectus and marketing described one investment; the projects behind it were another. The claim is the difference.
Risk
The prospectus understated the risk that the solar parks would not be built or would not sell their output.
Security
The security investors were told stood behind the bonds is alleged to have been largely unsecured.
Income
Coupon cover depended on parks that were never energised.
GreenPeak has not returned investors' capital or the missed coupons. The firm's modelling of capital and income lost across the registered book puts aggregate claimed losses at approximately €210m.

A public offer of securities in the EU is made on a prospectus that must give a fair and balanced account of the investment and its risks. Where that prospectus is misleading, EU prospectus liability — as implemented in the Netherlands — gives investors who relied on it a claim for their loss.
The claim is that GreenPeak’s prospectus and marketing were misleading on the risk of the projects and the security behind the bonds, and that retail investors across the EU were sold a “low-risk” income that was nothing of the kind.
It is brought as a Dutch WAMCA collective action through a claim foundation — opt-out for Netherlands-domiciled holders and opt-in for other EU holders who register.
Return of capital
The capital investors put into the bonds and have not recovered.
Missed coupons
The contractual income that was promised and went unpaid from 2024.
Costs of the action
Recovery of the costs of the collective action, as the court allows.

The questions claimants ask most often about this matter.
I live outside the Netherlands. Can I join?
Yes. The action is opt-out for Netherlands-domiciled holders and opt-in for other EU holders. If you are elsewhere in the EU, register and you will be included.
I still hold the bonds. Should I sell first?
No — you do not need to sell to take part, and you should take your own advice before dealing. The claim covers capital and missed coupons whether you still hold or sold at a loss.
What does “asset-backed” have to do with it?
Investors were told real assets stood behind the bonds. The claim is that the security was largely unsecured, so the “low-risk, asset-backed” description was misleading.
What will it cost me?
Nothing unless the action recovers. The collective action is funded on terms disclosed to the court, and the funder’s return comes out of any recovery before distribution.
